Enterprise Solutions
Enterprise environments deal with a level of complexity and
sophistication in IT equipment and supporting business processes
that can sometimes be almost overwhelming. Because there are
so many points within Enterprise IT infrastructure, there
are many potential points of failure.
Fortunately, many Enterprise environments are in a position
to deploy systems and network management tools like TivoliTM,
UnicenterTM, OpenViewTM, or similar products. These tools
provide Enterprises with wide-ranging monitoring, alerting,
and management capabilities. However, the breadth of these
tools can also be their weakness.
Enterprise management applications are designed to address
the needs of the entire IT infrastructure. What they often
lack, however, is deep views into systems issues that can
help administrators be as productive as possible and help
organizations save money and increase uptime. Enterprise management
tools often treat systems level issues with red-light/green-light
simplicity. If there is a red light, the system is down or
in need of immediate repairs. If a system is green, the Enterprise
application assumes it is okay. Why is this a problem?
Most computer systems do not exist in absolute states of
green or red, live or dead. This ignores the subtler, but
more important, “amber-state” issues that can linger on for
quite some time and eventually lead to failures. For instance,
if a fan begins to turn more slowly over time and if it is
not properly reconfigured or replaced, this will likely lead
to burn-out of multiple components and even of the entire
system. Most Enterprise management applications do not offer
the level of granularity necessary to view this issue and
address it.
SyAM Software’s products provide deep views into systems
issues and deliver alerts not just on red-green issues but
also on amber-state issues. Addressing amber-state issues
brings many benefits to organizations:
It saves money on systems repairs and prevents expensive
catastrophic failures.
It helps administrators be more productive because it empowers
them to discover root causes of systems issues remotely, eliminating
at least some time-consuming desk-side work.
It increases uptime for each system, in turn increasing the
productivity of the work force.
It empowers administrators to proactively deal with issues
rather than reactively responding to failures.
